Reckitt has confirmed Holly McCarthy as her new marketing director for Australia and New Zealand following the relocation of Henry Turgoose to a new role with the US consumer healthcare division.
McCarthy, who is originally from Australia, will oversee the full consumer health portfolio locally and join from Reckitt’s Singapore office, where she’s spent the last two-and-a-half years overseeing infant brand, enfa, as global marketing director, as well as Gavison. She’s been with Reckitt for nearly 10 years, initially joining the UK office and primarily working across hygiene and healthcare products.
Prior to this, McCarthy spent two-and-a-half years with Campbell Arnott’s as brand leader for Tim Tam, and also has nearly five years with Unilever under her belt.
McCarthy said she’s passionate about purpose-driven brands and was looking forward to returning to Australia to tackle marketing leadership across Reckitt Health. She officially started the A/NZ role on 31 January 2022.
“I haven’t had the chance to work at Reckitt in Australia. I am delighted to come home and engage with such an amazing suite of brands in a market I know and love. I look forward to working with the experienced brand team to continue to make an impact in the market through the likes of Dettol, Nurofen and Durex,” she stated.
“What I love the most about Reckitt is the opportunity for personal growth afforded to employees. In my 10 years, I’ve had a wide range of roles and opportunities to develop teams that have gone on to achieve amazing things. Linked to that is the ownership-driven culture where we, as a team, can achieve great success through collaboration. I can already see this is well-embedded in our Sydney team, and I’m looking forward to relearning the local way of things to champion my employees to grow alongside our brands.”
Turgoose, meanwhile, is relocating to the US to take on global category director leadership for Mucinex and Delsym as part of a respiratory and US healthcare expansion plan. He’s been the local marketing director for Reckitt Health for just over two-and-a-half-years and is another employee to have benefitted from new geographical opportunities across the business over his 12-year tenure, moving to Australia from the UK.
Work undertaken during Turgoose’s stewardship included Nurofen’s sponsorship of emergency helicopter not-for-profit, CareFlight, distribution of more than 2 million Dettol instant hand sanitiser and wipe products to over 75 charities in need during the pandemic and the Durex #Erectometer Vax Climax awareness campaign .
Reckitt Health A/NZ regional director, David Rankine, was thrilled to have another Reckitt team member with a long history in the business joining his local leadership team.
“We are particularly proud of the culture we’ve built across Reckitt Health in recent years, and we’re looking forward to Holly injecting her expertise and love for our brands into the team,” he added.
Reckitt Health’s portfolio includes Dettol, Pine O Cleen, Glen 20, Nurofen, Strepsils, Gaviscon, Durex, Scholl,
Clearasil, Dettol, Veet, Harpic, Easy-Off Bam, Mortein, Finish, Vanish and Air Wick.
