Paying tribute to Bharat Ratna Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon (1882-1962) in a program organized in Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath auditorium, the CM said, “UP Rajarishi Tandon Open University has been named after Rajarishi Purushottam Das Tandon who dedicated his life to the freedom movement . A great freedom fighter, senior politician and Hindi litterateur, Tandon remained devoted to social service and education after independence. ”
“The National Education Policy-2020 has been adopted under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under the new education policy, students can obtain two degrees simultaneously. With the implementation of the new education policy, the importance of the courses offered by the open university has increased. In the last two years, the country as well as foreign nations accepted the importance of open universities, ”Yogi said.
“The education system has been badly affected during the Covid pandemic. The ‘Digital India’ policy envisioned by the PM in 2014 proved effective in online education during the pandemic. The fund released by the government under various schemes reaches the bank accounts of people through direct benefit transfer scheme. The deprived community is getting benefit of the scheme. “People are experiencing a new revolution under ‘Digital India’,” he said.
“The Skill India Mission launched by PM Modi is assisting the youth in making themselves self-reliant. Open universities can play an important role in Skill India Mission. The Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University should pay attention to technical education. The 1,200 study centers of the open university can be combined with the Prayagraj University to organize classes simultaneously, ”Yogi said.
“The state government is committed to supporting the open university that can play an important role in the achievement of the state open plan of ‘New Uttar Pradesh of New India’,” he added.
Man convicted of rape, murder in Mumbai’s Sakinaka last year:
A court sessions in Mumbai on Monday convicted a man of raping and murdering a woman in Sakinaka on September 10 last year. The convict, Mohan Chouhan, fatally injured the woman, 32. A CCTV camera caught Chouhan assaulting the victim and pulling her towards a tempo, where he sexually assaulted her. A watchman saw the woman in an injured state. He informed the police, which rushed her to the Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar.
Sidhu Moose Wala’s father demands CBI, NIA probe into singer’s murder:
The father of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, Balkaur Singh, who was shot dead on Sunday, has written to chief minister Bhagwant Mann, demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the National Investigation Agency. Apart from an inquiry by a sitting Punjab and Haryana high court judge, he said that the involvement of the CBI and NIA must be ensured in the investigation of his son’s murder.

5 injured as fire breaks out in Delhi’s Bharat Garden:
New Delhi: Five people suffered minor burns while at least 52 others were safely evacuated after a fire broke out in the basement parking of a five-storey residential building at Bharat Garden near Dwarka in southwest Delhi in the early hours of Monday, fire department officials said. At least 10 parked cars and two-wheelers also caught fire. “The injured were immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital,” said Delhi fire services chief Atul Garg. He added the fire was doused.
